Character Musings

START A DISCUSSION:

Take a moment during Character Community Week at work, school, home or play to reflect on and discuss the following questions and statements:

  • What does ‘community’ mean to you?
  • It is the simple everyday actions that make a difference. How do your actions affect the community we live in?
  • It takes all of us to create a great community?
  • What are we already doing that demonstrates good character?
  • What do we want to do more of to promote and demonstrate good character?
  • How we treat each other enhances quality of life.

POST A QUOTE:  BE INSPIRED – INSPIRE OTHERS

Send out a quote each day to co-workers, family members, students, neighbours:

  • There is more hunger for love and appreciation in this world than for bread- Mother Teresa
  • Words to live by are just words…unless you actually live them  - walk the talk, simpletruths.com
  • The golden rule is still golden- treat people the way you would like to be treated, walk the talk, simpletruths.com
  • Example has more followers than reason. We unconsciously imitate what pleases us, and insensibly approximate to the characters we most admire. In this way, a generous habit of thought and of action carries with it an incalculable influence. —Christian Nestell Bovee (1820-1904); author, lawyer
  • Example is not the main thing in influencing others. It is the only thing. -Albert Schweitzer, 1875-1965
