APRIL Attribute is RESPECT.

WHAT IS RESPECT?

I will treat myself and others with consideration, high regard, courtesy and dignity.

I WILL:

•   Be polite, dignified, honourable and positive in my dealings

with others.

•   Honour people’s rights.

•   Treat other people’s belongings, the environment and the world around us with due consideration.

•   Demonstrate respect for myself by behaving in the above manner.

RESPECT is when you show good manners, pay attention; treat others as you would like to be treated.

"Respect is a two-way street, if you want to get it; you've got to give it.”

— R. G. Risch

What Is A Character Community?
A Character Community is one in which members of the community work together to nurture positive character attributes. It requires a shift in thinking and a focus on attitudes and behaviours that lead to achievement and success. The Character Community Foundation of York Region recognizes 11 character attributes – compassion, courage, fairness, honesty, inclusiveness, initiative, integrity, optimism, perseverance, respect and responsibility.

Why Is Character Important?
Good character makes a positive difference in our families, schools, businesses and neighbourhoods by acting as a catalyst for positive change and citizen engagement. A Character Community attracts people and businesses of character and acts as a driver for economic growth and prosperity.
